How we started
Enabling Leadership was born from a long-standing collaboration between Alison Taylor and Caren Rangi. Having worked together for over 10 years, in 2024 they began co-designing a new approach to support leadership development in both governance and operational settings.
Their shared vision led to the creation of innovative programmes for CEOs, chairs, and their boards — designed to strengthen relationships, challenge thinking, share experiences, and build practical tools for effective governance and leadership. These programmes are for leaders ready to invest in their growth, their partnerships, and the long-term success of their organisations.

Alison is an experienced leader with over 20 years of board and executive experience across philanthropic, public, and community sectors. Known for strategic insight, collaborative leadership, and innovation in governance practice. Brings a dual lens of CEO leadership and board experience to enable effective governance, strategy activation, and sector impact.
Leadership Style: Innovative, values-based, collaborative, focused on strategy, activation, and shared leadership. Strong connector and enabler with a commitment to te ao māori and Te Tiriti o Waitangi and continuous learning.

Governor – Parent, wife and daughter - Cook Islands World Domination champion – facilitator – connector – community member and friend – these are what I would call my defining characteristics. I am a proud NZ born Cook Islands Maori and I have chosen to be a leader in the field of governance, so I can influence decision-making in areas I am passionate about. While I started life as an accountant and auditor, sitting at Board tables bringing the views, perspectives and needs of the people I represent is my happy place. And when I am not in Board meetings, I am supporting other governors and boards to strengthen their governance practices. I am also proud to live life in regional New Zealand (Hawke’s Bay), while also working across New Zealand and at home in the Cook Islands
